BIO of the EDITORIAL BOARD

Dr. Ilias Mahmud, Ph.D., MPH, BSOT is a prominent disability researcher in Bangladesh, Dr. Mahmud holds several academic and research positions in different higher education and research institutions. He is an assistant professor in public health at College of Public Health and Health Informatics, Qassim University, Qassim, Saudi Arabia; the coordinator, quality assurance in public health education at Qassim University, Saudi Arabia; a research higher degree supervisor (external) at the University of New England, Australia; assistant professor in epidemiology and population health at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, Bangladesh; and an adjunct faculty of the Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (an academic Institute of the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed, Dhaka, Bangladesh). In addition, he is an associate editor of the International Journal of Health Sciences. He is a former president of the Bangladesh Occupational Therapy Association (BOTA) and a former delegate of the same to the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. He has over 14 years of teaching and research experience in disability and public health in different higher education and research institutions in Bangladesh, the UK, Australia, and Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Mahmud graduated in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2003, and are trained in public health (MPH in 2007 from BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health), epidemiology, and population health (Ph.D. in 2014 from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK).

Shamima AKter Swapna, MRS, BSOT has been joined BJOT&R from the very beginning of the journal. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Bangladesh Health Professions Institute (BHPI). She completed her BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy and MSc in Rehabilitation Science from the University of Dhaka. Her research focus is on occupational participation, tools validation, interprofessional collaborative practice, and aging. She has joined the editorial team of the Bangladesh Journal of Occupational Therapy & Rehabilitation from the founding stage to the onwards.
